The UCIMC recently just published an article calling Unit 4 School Board Member/incumbant candidate Kristine Chalifoux’s ethics into question. Much of it seems to rely a bit on speculation, but it’s certainly one of the issues to consider going into the election this Tuesday.
Other issues to consider:
- The underrepresentation of minorities on a board for a district that was sued for segregation.*
- The upcoming contract negotiations + the recent anti-teacher, anti-union narrative that has made its way into the news = potential for some conflict.
- The acceptable age range to wean a child.
Remember, there are four seats and five candidates. The Gazette recently did a profile of the five who are running if you’re interested, though I’ve heard some people criticize it for being slanted toward certain candidates. I’m not sure I see that, but like I say, I’ve heard others comment about that.
*The fact that there are currently no African Americans serving on the board, is a real problem. Fortunately from what I’ve read and heard, Jamar Brown seems to be a pretty strong candidate. I’m voting for him.
