Carle Illinois students have started a Ukrainian Refugee Relief Project

A group of med students from the Carle Illinois College of Medicine are organizing a collection of supplies for Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Two of the project leaders have a personal connection to the country:

Kaden Rawson volunteered and taught English in Russia for two years, and assisted Ukrainian refugees displaced from Donetsk. Michael Pozin is of Ukrainian heritage — his family immigrated from Kyiv before the fall of the Soviet Union.

They are working with Global Empowerment Mission to get supplies to Poland and Ukraine, and they are asking the community to contribute needed items March 5-19. On March 5th, from 12 to 5 p.m., they will collecting at the Alma Mater. After that, folks can donate at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine Medical Sciences Building located at 506 S. Mathews Avenue.

Here are the requested items. They are not taking monetary donations, but encourage people who would like to donate money to do so with the International Red Cross Committee, Ukraine Crisis donation page, and the Ukrainian Government.
