From the Office of the Chancellor’s campuswide email:
The ‘Right to Work won’t work in Illinois’ rally on Thursday, April 19, will cause street closures in the campus area that will affect employees traveling on the south edge of campus.
An estimated 3,000–5,000 rally participants are expected to begin arriving in buses to the southeast parking lot of the Assembly Hall at about 3 p.m. on Thursday. The rally is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in the southwest parking lot of the Assembly Hall. At about 5:15 p.m., University of Illinois Police will shut down Oak Street from St. Mary’s Road to Kirby Avenue and Kirby Avenue from First Street to Neil Street for about 15 minutes as rally participants march to the Hilton Garden Inn. Those streets will be closed again beginning at about 7:15 p.m., as rally participants return to the Assembly Hall parking lot.
