Former Champaign resident Emma Witmer received a mention on NPR’s “Songs We Love,” a showcase of tracks handpicked by the organization’s venerable music staff and public radio hosts.
Witmer’s project, called gobbinjr, is an experiment in twee-pop melancholia. The song, entitled “manatee,” explores themes of vulnerabilty and self-consciousness, anchored by a prevailing curiosity regarding character and life in general. Within the article, Witmer describes her song as a meditation on “a mid-conversation daydream in real time.” The track is the first single off of gobbinjr’s new EP, vom night, due out on November 4th.
