There are some forms of entertainment that with can be performed with such a range of emotional involvement, sincerity, and, then, sometimes, utter silliness, and inappropriate crudity. The sort of mixed bag you subject yourself to at a comedy open mic is part of the charm which, for me, pairs comedy with reality, sometimes — never always — leading to reflection. All this to say, those who make it to a comedy, “Stand Up Showcase” must have hit the laugh meter enough times to ensure their time on stage worthwhile. This Friday, July 20th, the C-U Comedy Club presents a “Stand Up Showcase”, from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. Comedians from across central Illinois — Josh Freeman, Hayden Hamilton, Jeff Govedink, Jesse Tuttle, and Kadeem Fuller — will all perform their best acts at Soma where you can find a fair priced domestic or enjoy a crowd favorite Moscow Mule.
