The 2020 Paralympic Games in Toyko wrapped up this weekend, and athletes connected to C-U and U of I are bringing home some hardware.
- Nichole Millage and the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball team won their second straight Gold.
- Ryan Neiswender, Steve Serio, and Brian M. Bell and the U.S. Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team won Gold. Hiroaki Kozai and Japan won Silver.
- Ali Ibanez, Kaitlyn Eaton and the U.S. Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team won Bronze.
- Edina Müller won Gold in KL1 canoe for Germany.
- Daniel Romanchuk won bronze in the wheelchair marathon.
- Susannah Scaroni won Gold in the 5000 meter wheelchair race.
- Tatyana McFadden won Gold in the first ever Paralympic Universal Relay, Bronze in the 5000 meter wheelchair race, and Silver in the 800 meter.
- Alexa Halko won Bronze in the 800 meter.
- Ray Martin won Gold in the 100 meter wheelchair race and Silver in the 400 meter and 1,500 meter
- Oksana Master won Gold in Para-Cycling
