Black Breastfeeding week begins August 25th

BIPOC for a Better Birth, a C-U organization that “addresses the unique needs of Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who continue to face disproportionately poor pregnancy and birth outcomes while creating pathways to better reproductive experiences” is celebrating Black Breastfeeding Week from August 25-31.

The main event will be August 27th at Hessel Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All nursing parents and families are invited to gather for light refreshments and an opportunity to meet other breastfeeding/chestfeeding families, as well as local doulas.

Shelby Springer Birth Doula & Photography Services will be there to do free mini photo sessions for BIPOC breastfeeding/chestfeeding parents. Sign up ahead of time here.

The event is partially sponsored by East Central Illinois Breastfeeding Task Force and an Urbana Arts and Culture Program Arts Grant.
