BFA Exhibition opens Saturday at Krannert Art Museum

The 2018 School of Art + Design Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition, known to many as the BFA Show, opens with a reception this Saturday, May 5th at Krannert Art Museum. (See the event on Facebook)

The exhibition features art and design work by graduating seniors from the U of I shown in large galleries on the main floor of the museum.

“It’s always exciting to see the inventiveness — everything, from sculpture to drawing and painting on the studio arts side,” said Julia Nucci Kelly, communications director for KAM.

“On the design side, there are posters, package designs, games and web designs by Graphic Design students, and a whole array of new products that Industrial Design students research, prototype, build and present.”

There is also always a section of the exhibition devoted to photography, video, and app design. Those projects are presented from students in many disciplines, and sometimes are the result of collaborative work.

“People who visit are always surprised to see how many aspects of creative practice are part of degree programs in the School of Art + Design,” Nucci Kelly said.

The opening reception is open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 5th, and the BFA show will be open at the museum through graduation.

The exhibition closes with a special reception for graduates and parents on Sunday, May 13th after the School of Art + Design Convocation Ceremony
