Backyard chickens panel discussion to be held at CPL on August 5

Backyard Chickens in Champaign: A Panel Discussion

Champaign Public Library, Robeson Rooms A & B

On July 9, the Champaign City Council voted in favor of revising the ordinance that currently prohibits Champaign residents from keeping chickens. Curious about why folks might want to keep chickens? Interested in finding out how to keep chickens yourself? Come to the Main Library to hear from a panel of local experts about why backyard hens have become popular in communities across the nation.

Panelists currently scheduled to appear:

Karen Carney, Champaign resident whose grassroots campaign led to the City Council study session on backyard chickens;

Lisa Bralts-Kelly, Urbana resident, host of WILL’s “In My Backyard” radio show and former director of Urbana’s Market at the Square;

Debbie Campbell, Champaign resident and lifelong chicken enthusiast.
