From an Indi go Co-op release:
The August 1st opening at the Indi go Gallery in Champaign will feature new work from Champaign artists Lisa Kesler and Beth Darling as well as guest artist Robert Chapman. All three artists have studios in the Lincoln Building in downtown Champaign and have previously exhibited their work together there during open studio events.
Lisa Kesler earned her BFA in Painting from the University of Illinois and will receive her MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design at the end of the year. During her extensive career she has worked as both a painter and printmaker. She combines both mediums in her recent mixed media pieces which feature iconic rural imagery.
Beth Darling’s sumptuous garden paintings (such as the one seen above), rendered in a juicy impasto of brilliant colors, are a joyful celebration of life. Ms. Darling studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and received her BFA from Tufts University.
Robert Chapman received a BFA in Printmaking from Arizona State University where he specialized in relief and intaglio. His new still lifes, garden scenes, and florals, which are a departure from his well known landscapes, showcase his recent experiments in a painting style he describes as “less fussy”.
