Auditions for Taming of the Shrew

The What You Will Shakespeare Company will host auditions for its production of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew on Wednesday, October 16th from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Auditions will be held on the U of I campus, in the English Building, Room 150.

No experience or preparation is required, and all interested parties of all backgrounds are invited to come and audition.

According to a press release from What You Will, this production will focus on the impact society has on determining how you play the role of your gender. The setting has been moved to Edwardian England, where gender had to be defined by clear “outside” signifiers such as personality and dress.

As a non-profit, student-run theater organization, the What You Will Shakespeare Company performs first and foremost to the campus community. It is their goal to reach as many students, faculty, and staff as possible.

If you have any questions about this production or the auditions, please contact the group at whatyouwillshakes@gmail.com.
