From the press release:
America Recycles Day @ Boneyard Creek on Saturday, November 4th
Please join us on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. to noon to pick up litter for America Recycles Day @ Boneyard Creek. Local groups have already committed to volunteering, including, but not limited to, members of Keep Champaign Beautiful and organizations such as Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club, Farnsworth Group, and Champaign Park District. A free pizza lunch will be provided immediately following the clean-up. Volunteers can register here.
We do not normally have a litter clean up event during this time of year. This event is being held in lieu of the annual Boneyard Creek Community Day, which was cancelled due to rain. We believe it is a great way to keep the community engaged in clean-up efforts and to remove any litter that is cluttering up our waterways. It is also a great opportunity to educate residents about the benefits of recycling.
America Recycles Day is an initiative of Keep America Beautiful and is nationally held on November 15th to promote and celebrate recycling the United States. Each Keep America Beautiful affiliate community hosts an event in early November tailored to their unique needs. Our local event is an opportunity to raise awareness for the national America Recycles Day effort.
We hope to see you there! Any questions can be directed to Leslie Mitchell at leslie.mitchell@champaignil.gov or (217) 403-4722 or Nichole Millage at nichole.millage@champaignil.gov or (217) 403-4780.
