Hey, how about those arrests of U of I students for drug-related crimes? Six whole ounces of pot were confiscated! And a few ‘shrooms, too. And, oh yeah, a little coke for good measure. They’ve nipped that in the bud, so to speak. If you haven’t been following the story, hey, good for you. But you may want to get up to speed quickly. Here are some links:
- Chicago Tribune article from Saturday: “21 students arrested in U. of I. drug crackdown”
- The DI’s initial article from Friday: “Campuswide drug crackdown nets 25 arrests”
- Friday’s hilarious DI editorial, the point of which seems to be that police shouldn’t have moved forward with arrests this close to the the end of the school year, because people will forget over the summer that you can get arrested for selling drugs
- From today’s DI: “Fraternity officials respond to arrests”
- A couple of letters to the editor in the DI: “Finally, they’re arresting white people (paraphrasing),” and “Is that all the drugs they found?“
