INCOMING…
Parasol welcomes the long-awaited new album from Midlake, plus long-form efforts from Album Leaf, Brunettes, The Soft Pack, Electric Pop Group, Glossary, Skullflower, Malakai and Sourpatch. Reissue action includes Bardo Pond (1995’s Bufo Alvarius remastered & expanded) and Mighty Baby (1971 live set plus bonus stuff), plus a slew of psych/prog/garage compilations. And while not really new we’ve got an awesome 2005 DCD retrospective from British guitar band Midway Still (who combined the best of early ’90s Amerindierock with a Swervedriver-esque guitar sensibility) stuck in the CD player.
WAX ON
While the new Midlake CD is available, the Midlake vinyl is delayed one week. We expect our shipment early next week. Meanwhile we’ve loaded up with 45s by Xiu Xiu/Parenthetical Girls (split), Spencey Dude & The Doodles, Seabear and Predator; a Seabear LP+45; LPs by Album Leaf, Mighty Baby (DLP), The Soft Pack, Pierced Arrows (Dead Moon dudes), Kevin Barker (Vetiver guy), Howling Hex, Cold Cave, Yellow Fever and two, count ’em, two live LPs from drone-folkies MV & EE; one from Woodsist and the other from a UK label.
ROCKIN’ OUR WORLD
The aforementioned Midway Still anthology, The Skunks, and upcoming releases from Xiu Xiu, The Knife, Painted Hills, Unbunny and Common Loon.
(Ed. note: We know this is a thinly-veiled, unpaid advertisement, but we really think local record stores are important to the C-U community, so consider spending your music moneys at Exile or Parasol.)
