Vermont’s surf-rockers stop through at Mike ‘N Molly’s with their rip-roaring tunes. They’ll be joined by a couple of bands that don’t stray too far from that same type of sound either. The Caramel Mints are from Champaign and instrumental surf-rock band The Hershey Squirts join in as well.

WHAT: Molly Bass, Epilep[c], The Interns, Reed Richards, Kirkwood West, HarshPro
WHERE: Cowboy Monkey ($5)
WHEN: Thursday, October 25th at 10 p.m.
Pretty fitting that the bass filled bill is headlined by someone with “bass” in her name. Chicago’s Molly Bass makes her way down to this part of the state and is joined by a bunch of locals to help out. As Halloween nears we’re going to have a lot of these celebrations throughout the weekend.

WHAT: Empires, Warren Franklin and the Founding Fathers, Hank
WHERE: Courtyard Café ($5 students/$6 public)

California DJ Mimosa makes his way back through C-U after performing at Pygmalion 2011. He’ll take his performance to the same stage he played that year as well in the Canopy Club. And it appears as if he’ll be the only one for this show. His new single, “SWRV,” is available for download over at his website, or you can stream it below.

WHAT: The Curses
WHERE: Memphis on Main ($5)
WHEN: Friday, October 26th at 9 p.m.
Hopefully this is a continuing trend in good shows going down at Memphis on Main, and this week The Curses will have their go at things. I could not find the cost or the time of this one, so when we find the info, we’ll be sure to update it. For now, we’ll assume it’ll cost $5 to get i. Update: we were right, $5 cover, 9 p.m. start.

WHAT: DJ Belly, DJ Delayney, DJ Kosmo, DJ Legtwo
WHERE: The Highdive ($5)
WHEN: Saturday, October 27th at 10 p.m.
The Highdive hosts this party, which is essentially a DJ battle that’s happening along with a Hallowen celebration. Complete with a costume contest, DJ Belly will face off with DJ Delayney against DJ Kosmo and DJ Legtwo. If you wear some 80s hip hop outfits, you get extra “points” if you’re looking to win the costume contest. If you’re just going for the music, that’s not a bad move either.

EDITOR’S PICK: THE DIRTY FEATHERS, THE UGLIES, LOVE TOY
Cowboy Monkey ($7) — Saturday, October 27th at 9:30 p.m.
The Dirty Feathers know a thing or two about throwing a party, let alone one that has anything to do with Halloween. They performed last year on Halloween as well, and this year they are doing it again. This one has been dubbed “The Dirty Feathers’ Night of the Living Dead” show, which could literally mean anything, so we’ll have to see what tricks the gang pulls out for this show on Saturday night.
The band was just out on a short tour of the East Coast with shows in Philadelphia, New York, and Ohio (that last one isn’t quite East Coast, but close enough). Glad to have them back here, playing their first show since holding things down for the first night of Pygmalion with HUM, Psychic Twin, and That’s No Moon. This time around they’ll be joined by The Uglies, who call Chicago home, as well as locals Love Toy. Definitely a show that is worth checking out for celebrating Halloween weekend.
