The always entertaining Davina and the Vagabonds are back in town for a rollicking good time, this time at The Accord. Davina and her band don’t skimp on the class when they bring big, bold blues, jazz and soul sounds to venues around the world. They will be assisted by C-U’s zany Americana act Bones Jugs, who recently announced their new tour.

WHAT: The Havana Cuba All-Stars: Cuban Nights

WHERE: Krannert Center (tickets start at $10)

WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 16th at 7:30 p.m.

The eleven-member Cuba All-Stars musical collective is also known at asere, the Cuban word for friendship, which says it all about their ability to craft in collaboration. This multi-instrumental group brings together Spanish and African sounds to create music that is uniquely Cuban.

EDM trio Cash Cash are bringing their bright pop and electronica hooks to Canopy on Thursday, and they’ll be mixing up something that you can’t help but dance to.

WHAT: Frankie Gavin Solo Concert

WHERE: The Upper Bout (tickets start at $10)

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 17th at 7 p.m.

This Piper’s Hut Concert Series show will feature Frankie Gavin, a renowned fiddle and flute musician known for his unique take on both traditional and contemporary Irish music. Gavin has played with famous rock stars such as the Rolling Stones and Elvis Costello, and he’s also played for four different presidents. Catch this virtuoso at work while you can.

WHERE: Blips and Chitz ($5 for touring bands)

WHEN: Thursday, Nov. 17th at 8 p.m.

Some local and touring rock acts will present to you yet another killer show, continuing to cement this new show spot as a mainstay.

WHAT: The Big Gay 90’s Prom

WHERE: The Accord (free)

WHEN: Friday, Nov. 18th at 8 p.m.

After the large and positive reception for The Big Gay 80’s Prom, the venue decided to bring it back for another decade. Costume contests for cash prizes and a live deejay will make for a huge party and lots and lots of dancing. Keep an eye on the event page for more details as they are released.

WHAT: Tour Homecoming Party for Euriah and Old Fox Road

WHERE: Bath House (donations for touring musicians suggested)

WHEN: Friday, Nov. 18th at 9 p.m.

Euriah and Old Fox Road are pretty beat from their tour, but not so much that they can’t still put on one more banger. Come welcome them back with this acoustic gig at the fledgling show space Bath House, and make sure to toss a couple bucks towards Birthrates, on tour from PA.

WHAT: JAM and The Rives Brothers

WHERE: Sipyard (admission is free)

WHEN: Friday, Nov. 18th at 7 p.m.

Sipyard will be wrapping up its season on Saturday. There’s no snow in the forecast, and so there is no excuse not to be there to say goodbye as they begin their hibernation. Live local music the day before only sweetens the deal.

WHAT: Old Salt Union with The Bashful Youngens, Dave Andree, and Sam Payne

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 19th at 8 p.m.

Bluegrass and Americana evening at The Accord brings Old Salt Union over from Belleville, along with The Bashful Youngens, fresh from their gig at the C-U Folk and Roots Festival, and some other great acts.

WHAT: ZXO, Droughts, Beat Drun Juel, Krelboyne

WHERE: Blips and Chitz ($6 donation for touring musicians)

WHEN: Sunday, Nov. 20th at 8 p.m.

Locals ZXO and Krelboyne bring ambience and emo to the house to support Beat Drun Juel and Droughts on tour from Chicago, making up a strongly punk-flavored evening at Blips and Chitz that will be very loud and awesome.
