Dewclaw is the duo of Liz Faermark and Cody Jensen, and they are taking over the Iron Post once a month for the next few for a residency. That residency starts tomorrow night at 8 p.m., and they will be recording a live album over the course of the shows. If you can’t make it to this one, check out the dates that follow: February 27th, March 27th, and April 24th.

WHEN: Tuesday, January 30th at 8 p.m.
If you’re interested in taking a step over to Bloomington-Normal this week for a good show, check out JJ Grey & Mofro. They are a blues outfit that hail from Jacksonville, Florida, and tour the midwest pretty often — but not around Central Illinois too often.

WHAT: Dan Durley, The Bashful Youngens, The Speedbumps
WHERE: The Canopy Club ($8)
WHEN: Thursday, February 1st at 8 p.m.
Dan Durley is a C-U ex-pat — you might remember him from his band the 92s, which spent some time here. Their record Television Fuzz was one of our favorites the year it came out. He’s doing his solo thing here with a very good local act, The Bashful Youngens, and the Speedbumps as an opener. Durley has been involved in a variety of projects since he left town a few years ago, but this should be a fun one to catch on Thursday.

Don’t forget: this is a charity event, so all the proceeds are going to charitable causes here in C-U.

Metal and country unite — check out this show happening at the Loose Cobra in Tolono on Saturday night. Dibiase is out of St. Louis, and are no strangers to C-U — they’ve performed a few times, including Oktstonerfest at the Cobra a little while back. They rip. This is a donation-based show, but throw a few bucks in the jar while you’re at it.
