Well, the Great Cover Up is proving once again it is a force to be reckoned with, as the first three nights of a five-night run in 2014 has come and gone. Plenty of highlights, including Mike Ingram and Abnormous as Justin Timberlake, The Curses as Tom Waits, Curb Service as Snoop Dogg, and many others. This week, a bunch of other bands are lined up to show us what they have in store, including Elsinore, The Dirty Feathers, We the Animals, Grandkids, and plenty more. Chicago’s Henhouse Prowlers make their way back through Urbana at the Iron Post on Friday night. Interesting fact per the Facebook event, “The band was recently selected by the US State Dept. to spend a month in West Africa and will be headed back to Europe in 2014 for their largest tour abroad to date.” Wild. Elsinore headlines this “Back to School” show on Saturday night, as students have returned to Champaign-Urbana. They’ll be joined by The Kickback, which we’ll be talking to later in the week, and Grandkids, who took home SP’s Album of the Year award back in December for 2013. All good things going on here.
