The Howl are a young Chicago band who play prog-punk in the vein of The Gaslight Anthem. They return to Urbana to play the Canopy Club with locals Resinater and Tomblands.

If you haven’t caught the Marathon Guitarkestra yet, this is your golden opportunity. As far as I know, they’re the only Guitarkestra in Illinois, and for this show they’re joined by two Indiana bands and local Sad Man.

Acoustic guitars and lovely harmonies are easy on the ears, especially when they’re coming from Mae & the Dark Days.

With a name like Old Shoe, I don’t see a reason why anyone would decide to listen to this band if the music wasn’t super good! They play some bluesy rock and they’re from Chicago.

A band within a band! 6th Street Brass Band is the funky side project of several members of the Marching Illini.

A bonus show of sorts — a show hosted at Exile on Main Street — will be happening on Sunday evening. Michael Buratto is heading through town, and he’s joined by locals Penny Horses and Lonely Trailer.
