3/5 – Perpetual Groove, The Werks @ Canopy Club ($10) – This southern band is known for their impressive live shows which usually involve long lasting funkified dance music. Okay, okay – they’re a jam band. You’re either on this train or not.
4/2 – Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons @ Cowboy Monkey (10 p.m., $10 advance) – A singer/songwriter playing a timeless brand of folk rock reminiscent of a guy whose family also comes from central Minnesota.
4/17 – The Antlers, Phantogram @ Canopy Club (Door at 8 – show at 10, $12 advance)
The Brooklyn band is said to be working on a follow up to last year’s heartbreaking Hospice. This show might be an opportunity to see some new songs in addition to those from what many consider to be 2009’s best album.
4/29 – Paul Thorn, Fred Eaglesmith @ Highdive (7 p.m., $18 advance)
Playing a little bit of blues, country, gospel, rhythm and blues, and rock ‘n’ roll, Thorn is a southern story teller in the truest sense.
