The Champaign/Urbana Singer-Songwriter Collective presents a special Christmas benefit for Toys for Tots featuring Jeff Arrigo, Jammin’ Jimmy Bean, Lori Bernard, Anne Clements, John Coppess, Megan Johns, Justin Kessel, Mark Laughlin, Michael Meadows, Gloria Roubal & Paul Sabuco, and Santa Claus (William Dicker). Donations for the event are at a $5 minimum, or bringing a toy of your choice.

Cameron McGill and What Army are back in town after being away since performing at Pygmalion in September. They’re joined by locals A Cool hand and Indianapolis crew Pravada, plus DJ Mingram will close out the night with a set himself.

Local sludge rockers Dino Bravo take over the upstairs at Mike ‘N Molly’s with a few friends Friday. Droughts are out of Chicago and released a split 7” on Error Records, the same label DB is on. Shitzo is a side project of one of the members of Hank. Should be interesting.

Dastardly’s frontman Gabe Liebowitz is back in town and ready to perform two full sets at Memphis on Main on Friday. You can check out a collection of some of the tracks he just released, called Songs for Sad Clowns, below.

Cork-Screwged is Buvons Wine Bar’s way of celebrating the holiday season, and they have some music to go along with it. Chicago’s rock outfit Great Divide invades Canopy Club this weekend. The band is prepping a new release for March and you can check out one of their new tracks, “Ain’t No Roads” below. Joining is C-U’s The Heroic Cerade and The 10s.

The Highdive ($5) — Saturday, December 15th at 9:30 p.m.

WPGU is gathering gifts and donations for children for their Operation Santa benefit show again this year. Their goal is to raise $4,000 to purchase the wish lists of forty children at the Crisis Nursery and Parent Wonders Of Rantoul. All of the proceeds brought in for Operation Santa go directly into purchasing gifts for these families and delivering them at a holiday party. They’ve lined up  a pretty solid bill for the night, including blues rock Beeson Brothers band, Grandkids, and Withershins/Evil Tents member Isaac Arms.

Locals Charles N the Gnarlies have a pretty solid bill lined up over at Mike ‘N Molly’s this weekend. Bloomington’s Alex & The XO’s join and local folk singer-songwriter Morgan Orion opens the show up.
