Euriah’s Eric Stanley will be bringing some C-U emo to this show that has Kalamazoo’s Winter Classic leading the way. Chicago and Champaign groups will come together for this gig to rock it out.

Your hump day comes with a folky show from Kowabunga! Kid’s Kamila Glowacki and a few friends from NYC.

WHAT: Neighborhood Nights Concert 

WHERE: Meadowbrook Park (free) 

WHEN: Wednesday, August 3rd at 6:30 p.m. 

This week’s Neighborhood Nights will be the last of the season. The Surreal Deal will bring 70’s jam music to the lovely Meadowbrook Park to close out the family-friendly event for the year, which will be complete with the usual popcorn and lemonade.

WHAT: Earth Witch//Livin’ Thing//Kowabunga! Kid//La Louve 

WHERE: Ghost Planet ($5) 

WHEN: Thursday, August 4th at 8 p.m. 

The self-described “doom blues” band Earth Witch is starting a tour soon, so they’re celebrating with this show at the fledgling house venue Ghost Planet. Kowabunga! Kid and a few friends will help kick things off.

WHAT: Kayak Jones/Bogues/The Suction Cups/Old Fox Road/The Tuesday Lovelies

WHERE: Blips and Chitz ($5) 

WHEN: Thursday, August 4th at 6 p.m. 

Come check out another new spot, Blips and Chitz, while taking in some sweet tunes. Some emo/punk bands both local and touring are prepared to help break in this new venue in the best way.

WHAT: Snayl/Hippie Priest 

WHERE: Sipyard (cost unknown, probably free) 

WHEN: Thursday, August 4th at 8 p.m. 

Sipyard is going to get trippy on Thursday with the electronic vibes of Hippie Priest intermingling with the ever-dreamy Snayl. The result will be a multi-sensory experience that will make you say “duuude.” Add the open-air setting of Sipyard and you’ve got a stargazing evening to be envied.

WHERE: The City Center (tickets start at $20) 

WHEN: Thursday, August 4th at 7 p.m. 

City Center is doing what they do best, and that’s bring big country acts to the C-U area. Terri Clark, a country music award winner and member of the Grand Ole Opry, is prepared to bring the house down.

WHAT: Jesse W. Johnson/The Acme Principle/Penny Horses 

WHERE: The Brass Rail (free) 

WHEN: Friday, August 5th at 9 p.m. 

Holy crap, you guys – it’s a Brass Rail show! What else do you need to know? But really, the bar is going to host some seriously awesome punk and rock artists on Friday, and you have no excuse not to go. The Acme Priniciple and Penny Horses are welcoming Chicago’s Jesse W. Johnson, so come, let us thrash.

WHAT: Allerton Bluegrass on the Prairie 

WHERE: Allerton Park ($5 per person/$10 per family, at the gate) 

WHEN: Friday, August 5th at 6 p.m. 

Bluegrass on the Prairie night at Allerton has Henhouse Prowlers returning for their third year and the Ben Miller Band playing for the first time. Food and drinks will be available on site for purchase. Take the family to the meadow to enjoy tunes and the beautiful Allerton at the height of summer.

WHAT: Live Hip Hop at I4C 

WHERE: Institute 4 Creativity ($7) 

WHEN: Saturday, August 6th at 7 p.m. 

Support C-U’s up-and-coming rap scene with this show on Saturday. This night will feature performers from Bloomington as well as Champaign: Tae The God, Suave L’Don, Tate Ruffner, Dionte Helm, and a lot more. Solid hip hop shows are few and far between around here, so check it out.

WHAT: C-U in the Prairibbean XII 

WHERE: Downtown Champaign, parking lot at the corner of Washington and Neil ($10) 

WHEN: Saturday, August 6th at 5 p.m. 

The Eastern Illinois Parrot Head Club will be hosting its 12th annual C-U in the Prairibbean fundraising event. It’ll feature local Jimmy Buffett tribute band The Boat Drunks, along with The Tons O’ Fun Band. There will also be a silent auction and stuff to eat and drink. This event raises money each year for the Developmental Services Center, so as they say on their site, come help them “Party with a Purpose.”

WHAT: SvenStock 

WHERE: D’Stillher Farm in Sadorus ($10 suggested donation) 

WHEN: Saturday, August 6th at 3 p.m. 

Make the trip out to Sadorus for music, camping, and a really great cause. This is a huge fest that boasts more than eight local bands, with some still unannounced. Proceeds go to benefit C-U’s R.A.C.E.S. This will be a uniting of C-U’s musical community for a great purpose, and there are few better ways to help out than with amazing music.

WHAT: Outdoor Choir Concert 

WHERE: Westminster Presbyterian Church (free) 

WHEN: Sunday, August 7th at 3 p.m. 

This concert will feature a performance by the Congolese Youth Choir. This is an all-inclusive event and family friendly, so bring a chair or a blanket for an afternoon on the lawn.

WHAT: Morgan Orion & The Afterburners w/Soft Self Portraits and N. M. Garcia 

WHERE: Library House (free/donations suggested) 

WHEN: Sunday, August 7th at 7 p.m. 

With the folk/anti folk of Morgan Orion headlining an indie-ish evening, Library House has a chill show that’ll be a great way to close out your weekend.
