Trot on down to Cowboy Monkey tonight to check out three local acts: Scurvine, The Chemicals, and Krukid rock the restaurant/club that’s getting its feet wet again with live bands. After closing its doors for a few months earlier this year to remake/remodel, the Cowboy Monkey re-emerged with a new menu and music in the evening provided by disc jockeys.
Scurvine opens the free (as in no cover charge) evening with their guitar heavy indie rock reminiscent of Shudder to Think, Hum and a hint of post Husker Du Bob Mould. The Chemicals, in their second gig of the month, headline the show. On the scene for a couple years now, The Chemicals make some of the more compelling and passionate sounds around. One can hear a little early Pavement and some Television in their songs. Rawkus recording artist Krukid will rock the mic before heading off to Orlando, Florida for back-to-back gigs. Krukid’s brand of gritty would fit nicely on the Def Jux label with production nods to the Bomb Squad.
This show is free and begins at 11 p.m.
