Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its 50th season of performances. The rain did not stifle this year’s opening party — in fact, the bad weather may have even drawn a larger crowd, enticing folks whose outdoor events had been cancelled.
The party was loud and lively, and attendees were encouraged to dress from their favorite decade. While most people were not dressed up, there were several wigs, shiny pants, flower crowns, and platform shoes.
The music was dynamic, with different bands rotating between the main stage and a smaller stage. People of all ages were dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. Bands that performed include Ranky Tanky, Baracutanga, AJ Ghent, New Orleans Jazz Machine, and Mucca Pazza.
Food and drink were also plentiful. Piato Café, Siam Terrace, Rick’s Bakery, Roasati’s, Caribbean Grill, Chester’s BBQ, and Oh, Honey Pie were all on hand dishing up delicious things.
