It’s a short enough to Arthur, IL, which has one of the nation’s premier pumpkin patches. Buy some mums, eat some pumpkin-themed fair food, listen to live music, and take your picture next to an endless array of squash-themed art installations. The UIUC MFA students are opening up their studios to the public, and you’re invited. There are a bunch of graduate students making all sorts of different types of work, so there could be something for everyone. Telekenetic Yeti, Loose Cobra, 9 p.m., donations accepted
Telekinetic Yeti is a two piece stoner doom band from Iowa, and they are making their way through Tolono at Matt Talbott’s Loose Cobra tonight.
While there’s an opening act to be announced, you’ll have to see for yourself — don’t miss out, the Loose Cobra is an excellent time. (PS)
OpenheART w/ Special Guest Tebe Zalango, Derailed 57, 9 p.m., free
OpenheART is a fairly new open mic style show series, hosted by Cii La’Cole, that aims to boost creativity in C-U and is welcoming to all artist of any variety. Tebe Zalango is just that, an amazing violinist and ever better poet, he combines all of his artistic abilities into an extremely memorable performance. You won’t want to miss his performance, who knows maybe you bring a few songs, poems or any other artistic abilities to openheART.

Eat some cheesecake, Lindquist Fine Heritage Cheesecake at Urbana’s Market at the Square, 7 a.m. to noon, $5
Lindquist Fine Heritage Cheesecake, a soon-to-be-launched purveyor of fine heritage cheesecakes, will debut his/her/its product this weekend at one of the last outdoor markets. From the photos on Facebook, this cheesecake looks pretty good. Samples will be available, but are in limited quantity, so arrive early for a bite, or buy your own slice for $4.50. Champaign and Urbana have 3 more weeks set for yard waste pickup, and you don’t want to wait until it’s 25 degrees outside to do yours. Urbana’s dates are here, and Champaign’s dates are here. Don’t want to do it yourself? Find some unsuspecting teenager to do it on the cheap. (DT)
Fall Open House, Japan House, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., free
Japan House is welcoming special guest Senko Ikenobo this weekend for their annual fall open house. Ikenobo’s family originated the art of Ikebana, or Japanese flower arranging. She will be doing a free presentation at 11 a.m. You can also experience a tea ceremony, offered throughout the day, for a reduced ticket price of $6. Tickets available that day. Garden tours will be happening all day as well. Go check out this lovely campus gem! (JM)
Expungement and Record Sealing Summit, Stone Creek Church, 2502 S Race St, Urbana, IL 61801, 8:30 am – 5 pm
The Champaign County Circuit Clerk’s Office hosts an annual Expungement and Record Sealing Summit in partnership with many local organizations, including IL State Rep. Carol Ammons, IL State Sen. Scott Bennett, Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, and many others. The Summit is designed to provide free legal assistance to those who wish to clear their criminal records. Participants meet with volunteer attorneys who review their criminal history, advise them on what remedies they may apply for and help prepare petitions. Qualified petitions are able to be filed for free on-site. (CR)
Books to Prisoners Fall Sale, Independent Media Center, 202 S. Broadway, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., $.25-$2
Books to Prisoners provides books for Illinois inmates and operates lending libraries in our local jails. This bi-annual sale is how they raise the money needed to keep their operation going. Books range from 25 cents to two dollars, and they are selling children’s books as well as adult. (JM)

Eat breakfast at the Courier, 7 a.m.-11 a.m., price varies
I love the Courier, always have. One thing that I love the most about it is their breakfast. That, plus what will likely be a beautiful fall day in Urbana, you can’t really go wrong — plus, the food is definitely some of the cheapest breakfast food you can get anywhere in C-U. That, plus it is delicious — lethal combo. (PS)
Secret Stuff and Save Face, Blips and Chitz at 7 p.m., $7
These two bands will be headlining a show at Blips and Chitz. They’re both artists you’d find yourself listening to on a sad boi day. Save Face comes all the way from New Jesery and they’re bringing angry songs. Secret Stuff comes all the way from Tennessee and they’re bringing their twinkle daddy emo to town.
