Pop-up Donut Shop, Co-Lab, 5 p.m.
Co-Lab and Pandamonium Donuts are teaming up to provide a pop-up donut shop starting tonight. Donuts will be temporarily available at Co-Lab for three consecutive weekends (today through Sunday, April 6th) — available only on Friday nights, and Saturday and Sundays. The Wind Rises, The Art Theater Co-op
Touted as the final film of legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, The Wind Rises promises “a look at the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II” (IMDB). With a truly impressive American voice cast including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stanley Tucci, William H. Macy, and Emily Blunt, this film will run all weekend long. See The Art’s website for specifics. Not Ready to Make Nice, Krannert Art Museum
Continuing its residence at KAM, this is a presentation of the Guerrilla Girls, displaying “the important historical and ongoing work of these highly original, provocative, and influential artists who champion feminism and social change. Focusing primarily on recent work, the exhibition features rarely shown international projects that trace the collective’s artistic and activist influence around the globe. In addition, a selection of iconic work from the 1980s and 90s illustrates the formative development of the group’s philosophy and conceptual approach to arts activism” (KAM website). North American Saxophone Alliance Conference, Krannert Center’s Foellinger Great Hall, 7 p.m., $12-$18
The conference continues their concerts through the weekend. This evening of jazz will focus on the UI Concert Jazz Band with Chip McNeill, Brad Leali, and David Bixler. This performance will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and has no intermission. Following the concert is a free event of jazz combos at 9 p.m. at Stage 5. (AB)
SATURDAY, MARCH 22
Treat yourself to some ice milk, Jarling’s Custard Cup, 309 West Kirby Ave, Champaign, 12 p.m.-10 p.m.
Jarling’s has reopened for the season, and although the weather isn’t exactly all that warm, you can still treat yourself to some frozen dessert. Since Jarling’s has a drive-thru, you don’t even have to get out of your warm car. Crème de menthe is the featured flavor through Saturday, and maple walnut is available Sunday. (JH)
Take a Walk, any local park and/or neighborhood, whenever, free
Spring is coy this year; it’s forecasted to get down to the 30s again next week. There might even be some snowflakes. But you’re going to carpe dieum and perambulate before the nice weather gets away from you. Right? Right. (RP)
Films on The Porch Project Double Feature: Local Films, Figure One (116 N. Walnut, Champaign), 2-9 p.m., free
Figure One is showing a number of locally made films this Saturday, including shorts courtesy of the Champaign-Urbana Film Society and House of Thaddeus. Check their website for exact showtimes. Films On The Porch series is free and open to the public. Popcorn will be provided. Space is limited, so please plan to arrive early. (RP)

Country meets comedy with local band The Fights playing after local comedian Andrew Voris and Chicago comedian Kyle Scanlan. Head over and enjoy some good laughs and some really great live music from a local band. (JK)
Thundertruck, Lonely Trailer, ACME Principle, Cowboy Monkey, 10 p.m., $5
A trio of solid rock ‘n roll bands out of C-U take the stage at Cowboy Monkey on Saturday night. Thundertruck has been molded in different ways over it’s existence, but they bring some heavy rock tones to the table, for sure. Check out the other two bands as well — I’ve heard the Lonely Trailer has been throwing down really great live sets recently. (PS)
SUNDAY, MARCH 23
Fighting Illini Basketball vs. Clemson, 10 a.m., cost varies
The Illini pulled one out on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT against Boston University, and they’re slated for their second round game at Clemson on Sunday morning. Sure, it’s the NIT — not the Big Dance, but still, you’re not a fair weather fan, are you? Watch the game. Although the first half against BU wasn’t the best showcase of talent in the previous game, it’s worth your time switching between this and whatever other basketball you’re watching on this day. Watch it at your house, or wherever Jess suggests below. You’ll find a place. (PS)
3rd round NCAA March Madness, your sports bar (or couch) of choice, 11 a.m.-approx. 8:30 p.m.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year for men’s college basketball fans. Put on your school’s colors and head to Jupiter’s, Guido’s, or Pia’s, or order a pizza and watch from your couch. (JH)
