On Saturday, a rally and vigil protesting mass ICE raids and immigration detention centers was held at the Champaign county courthouse in Urbana. Metal cages were erected and foil blankets were provided in order to point out just a few of the conditions immigrants face when detained at the border. Residents united in solidarity by singing, sharing personal stories, and inspiring others to enact real change to solve the border crisis. Art created by youth who have recently arrived in Champaign-Urbana after spending time in cages was on display and some volunteers remained in the cages overnight.
