FRIDAY
Pygmalion: There’s too much going on to list anything in a great deal of detail, but suffice to say that you shouldn’t lack for live music to see over the next couple of days. You probably have a folded-and-refolded schedule in your pocket already, but here are the shows anyway:
Wavves w/ Autolux, The Antlers, Maps and Atlases & more, beginning 6:20 p.m. | Canopy ($15 advance / $18 DOS)
So Long Forgotton, So Many Dynamos, jigGsaw & more, beginning 11:30 a.m. | Blues (Free show)
Killroy et al, and more, beginning 12:45 p.m. | Sandella’s (Free show)
Low & more, beginning 6:30 p.m. | Channing Murray
The 1900’s, Cameron McGill and What Army and more, beginning 10 p.m. | Cowboy Monkey
Light Pollution, Neoga Blacksmith and more, beginning 5:15 p.m. | Mike N’ Molly’s
Golden Quality and more, beginning 9:30 p.m. | Bentley’s
Blues and (predictably) booze:
Pygmalioners don’t get to have all the fun. Drop on by the Iron Post at 9 to see the Killborn Alley Blues Band drink beer and play music (and then drink some more beer). It’s 4 bucks at the door, but you lost twice that much in change the other night while moshing at the Japandroids show.
To hell with rock ‘n roll. Let’s knit!: Head to the Douglass Branch Library (504 E. Grove St., Champaign) from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today for “Knittin’ Something Special,” which happens every other Friday from now until December. It’s free, and if you just want to learn, you don’t even have to bring your own yarn and needles.

Query: food or bombs? If you chose the former, you might want to get out your day planner and write down “Food Not Bombs rally at Westside Park” in the 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. slot. If you chose the latter, click here so that you can be with people who understand you.
Speaking of Fox News, don’t let them know about this: Looking for a way to expose your kids to new cultures? Then head to the Urbana Free Library at 2 p.m. for “Middle East Story Time.” Angela Williams from the Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies will lead this free program for families that includes activities, music, and stories.
SUNDAY
What has become of you?: Tired of sitting alone at home on Sunday nights, pretending that the digital images on your television are really your friends? Then come on down to Bentley’s where, starting at 8 PM you can play Rock Band in public with real people! That way you won’t have to drink alone!
Wow! Horses indoors: Putting “World Famous” in quotes on their own website makes me doubt the veracity of their claim, but the “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions will be putting in an appearance at Assembly Hall at 2 p.m. They are horses of battle, as well as horses of ballet, which is certainly a versatility that few can claim. From the announcement (everything sic’d): “The 40th Anniversary of the ‘Dancing White Stallions’ will gallop boldly out of the pages of over 425 years of the history of the Horse. Lipazzner Stallions are truely a great experience to be enjoyed by the entire family!” Tickets are $22.50 to $29.50.
