The 2015 Champaign County Freedom Celebration is officially in the books. With an official start time of 7 p.m., the Evening Program was held on campus again this year. Food vendors lined First Street while Colonel Klink’s Inflatables occupied the corner of Kirby and Oak. Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets returned again this year to provide the musical entertainment for the evening. Upon the conclusion of their set, the crowd sang the National Anthem. An invocation presented by Reverend Misty Teheran Bell of Canaan Baptist Church followed, and the playing of taps served as a prelude to the firework show. Melrose Pyrotechnics was on hand to light the sky.
