Coach Hambly and his team completed a four match spring mini-season at Huff Hall on Saturday, splitting six sets with Wisconsin in a 3-3 tie. While the event was more of an exhibition compared to what the fans see during the regular season, the energy level was definitely the same. Both teams tried new and different things, and both played to win. A good crowd was on hand for the 10:00 a.m. start, and most stayed for the duration.
The Illini finished their spring run 2-1-1. They defeated both Kansas State and Marquette, fell to Minnesota, and tied Wisconsin. Hambly and his staff continue to build the team in anticipation of an exciting fall season.
