Subtitled: Old Main Bookshop to close. 🙁
The University of Illinois will open an art gallery in downtown Champaign, prompting a longtime bookseller to close and raising questions about a possible conflict of interest.
The UI’s School of Art + Design will lease the Old Main Book Shoppe space on the first floor of 116 N. Walnut St., a building owned partly by the spouse of an art and design faculty member.
“Star of ‘This Old House’ stops at State Farm,” Pantagraph, May 12
BLOOMINGTON — Tom Silva of “This Old House” talked about the home improvement program’s 30-year run during a stop Wednesday at State Farm’s Corporate South campus.
“We film in real time, and we show in real time,” said the general contractor who’s been on the show since the late 1970s. State Farm Insurance Cos. is a longtime underwriter of the PBS show.
Silva gave two talks Wednesday in Corporate South’s atrium. His appearance was tied to the insurer’s annual Home & Auto Showcase, which featured vendor booths lining the hallways of the South campus off Veterans Parkway in Bloomington.
