In this episode of Smile Politely Radio, we discuss the house show scene in Champaign-Urbana. Though the music clubs get the lion share of the attention, our region also has a hopping house show scene. A lot of people work very hard to book shows, invite people to come, help bands find places to stay and a whole lot more. On this show, we are joined by Cynthia Voeckl and Ernie Blackwelder of Sandwich Life House Concerts. They have hosted many top-notch acts, including Tommy Womack who will be performing at their house this Friday at 6 p.m.
In addition, Ben Valocchi, SP’s music editor and former resident of Gepetto Workshop, comes by to talk house shows. Ben is actively involved in the Urbana house show scene and has recently moved into a house that is hosting shows. During the show, he recommends visiting the Champaign Area Shows Facebook page for more information.
This podcast concludes with Tommy Womack performing “Alpha Male and the Canine Mystery Blood.”
