If you have been meaning to make it out to Sleepy Creek Vineyards, but just haven’t had the chance, this weekend is a great opportunity to do so. Sleepy Creek is playing host to the first Salt Fork River Art Festival on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to view and purchase the works of over thirty artists, as well as taste locally produced wines, and enjoy live music. Admission is free and food will be available for purchase by PapaGeorge. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to Prairie Rivers Network to help protect our area’s rivers and streams.
Among the artists with their quality crafts on display will be Ken Bailey, with black and white fine art photography, batik artist Jill Miller, sculptor Ryan Slattery, and fine artist Kristen Wolfinbarger. Hathaways will perform acoustic folk music at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Bailiff’s Hollow will play Celtic music at the same time on Sunday. Both shows are free. Ben Bedford will play on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. and ticket’s are $6 and can be purchased at the festival or just before the show.
The drive from Champaign-Urbana to Sleepy Creek is roughly thirty minutes. Take 74-East to Exit 206 (Oakwood). Head South 3.5 miles and follow the curve to the sign for the vineyard on your left.
