The ladies defeated Iowa in three sets this past Wednesday night at Huff Hall (25-19, 25-13, 25-12). The Senior Night win was bittersweet as the pre-Thanksgiving match also marked the final appearance of graduating Libero Brandi Donnelly. Donnelly, a Williamsville Il. native, led the evening with 17 digs, helping lead the Illini to victory. Earlier in the season, Donnelly earned the distinction of B1G Defensive Player of the Week (9/18).
The team travelled to Columbus, Ohio this past Saturday to face off against the Buckeyes. Continuing their recent run of success, they defeated Ohio State by a score of 3-2. The season ending win pushed the Illini to an overall record of 21-10 and a conference record of 12-8.
Illinois now moves on to Seattle where they will face Hawaii in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship on Dec. 1. For more information visit Fighting Illini Volleyball.
