On Sunday the Illinois women’s soccer team faced off against Evansville at the Illinois Soccer Stadium and emerged victorious by a score of 1-0. After winning their three first games of the season the Illini have been on a five game losing streak during which their offense combined for a total of only three goals.
After scoring only one on Sunday, the offense is still a major concern for the Illini and while they were able to take eighteen shots only four of them were on goal. Summer Schafer scored the lone goal for Illinois and was assisted by Patricia George and Alia Abu-Douleh. On the other side of the ball the defense had a very solid all-around performance, outplaying the Purple Aces throughout the entire game and goalkeeper Michelle Denley had no trouble with the three saves she had to make.
Illinois begins its conference schedule against Purdue on Thursday at Illinois Soccer Stadium at 7PM.
