Last Saturday and Sunday the Illini Cat Club hosted an all breed cat show at the Urbana National Guard Armory. Show goers were met with hundreds of cats of all kinds, a cat judging contest, informational sessions and cat products.
The experience was unlike any other. Walking through the rows of cat carriers, palaces in and of themselves, one watched as cat owners groomed and swooned over their beloved feline friends. The judging was rigorous: tempting the kitties with cat toys, examining their build and fur and ultimately giving them a score followed by a round of applause from the audience. Cat products and informational sessions lined the perimeter of the gym.
Those in attendance were of a very diverse group. There was a great mix of ages, genders, races and class. The room was buzzing with chatter about breeds, coats, techniques, and of course plenty of oo’s and awe’s. Everyone was having a great time.
