Champaign County Bikes will be hosting their second annual BikeFest this Sunday, May 4, at Hessel Park in Champaign. Whether you’re an avid cyclist or merely curious about what’s going on in the local bike community, there’s something for everyone.
Starting at 9 a.m., you can choose between four different routes from 10 to 51 miles long in the Pedal Power ride, with proceeds benefiting the Center for Women in Transition.
The official BikeFest festivities kick off at 11 a.m., with repair demos, a film festival, live music, face painting, and bike decorating. There will also be a demonstration of the bike racks on an MTD bus and a cool bike contest.
The parade will begin at 2 p.m. Also, there will be more repair demonstrations ongoing throughout the festival. If you’re in the market for a used bike, there will be a silent auction of repaired bikes in the afternoon, ending at around 3 p.m. The festivities will wrap up by 4 p.m.
