By all accounts, there was a standing-room-only crowd on hand Friday night for the return of former Head Coach Kevin Hambly and his team from Stanford. The Illini took each set to the wire, losing in three by scores of 23-25, 23-25, and 22-25.
The team returned to the court on Saturday to face Colorado. Evenly matched through the first three sets, Illinois dominated the fourth, winning the set by a score of 25-12. The momentum did not carry them through the final set however, as the Illini once again took the fight all the way to the end, losing the final set by a score of 15-17.
The ladies will travel to Springfield, Missouri next weekend to participate in the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational and will return to Huff Hall again on October 6th for Big 10 play.
