This Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, the Krannert Art Museum is hosting Kids @ Krannert, a free art event for children and their guardians, parents, friends, and family. It is held twice a semester with hands-on art activities mainly for kids, but even adults are welcome to explore and create.
Krannert Art Museum ties the event and it’s activities in with their current major exhibition. Tomorrow, to coincide with Blown Away and more specifically, Michael Bell-Smith’s art series called “Action Hack”, Pop! will be on the plate of interesting projects for all to participate in. Pop! will demonstrate real life action distorted by cinematic effects. It’s intent is to enlighten children on what message the artist’s in the Blown Away exhibit are attempting to convey through their artwork. Participating kids will get a balloon, blow it up, and then pop it while volunteers and staff members of the museum videotape it. At the end of the day, they’ll string the footage together and play it back in slow motion. In addition, the Illini Drumline will also perform.
The Krannert Art Museum is located at 500 E. Peabody Dr., in Urbana.
