This past Friday, over $21,000 was raised for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, courtesy of the Centennial Dance Marathon. Founded in 1983, CMN Hospitals is a non-profit organization that raises funds for local children’s hospitals, as well as medical research and the promotion of awareness to health issues that affect our children.
The Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement which began at Indiana University in 1991 in memory of Ryan White. Currently, there are over 250 schools across the country taking part in the event, and Centennial was the first high school in Illinois to host a marathon. The funds raised by the Centennial students will be directed to St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield.
