Ever have to clean out a closet for a big move? Now imagine a closet used by an entire theatre company.
Champaign-Urbana Theatre Company is in the process of moving. And as with any move, they needed the help of some friends to sort out, box up, and cart away a whole lot of costumes.
I went out to the CUTC site near Dallas and Company to see what I could see. Upon walking into a large warehouse-type room where high school kids were carrying boxes from one room to another. I’m sorry to admit that I initially thought, “There is no story here. Nothing to photograph, nothing to write.” But, being the good little photo-soldier I am, I stuck around.
Glad I did.
I decided to shoot video, mostly; and while I shot, I talked with some of the kids. Turns out there was a kid from every school in Champaign-Urbana pitching in to clean this place up. A few of them were calling out orders while the rest were merrily working. It was actually pretty cool to see young adults tackling a task with cooperation and vigor. (We could all take a lesson from that.)
Anyways, here are a few shots and the video I took. Enjoy!
