In case you missed the memo, Michelle Obama broke ground last Friday (March 20) on a 1,100-squre foot vegetable garden on the White House lawn. She was accompanied by a group of fifth graders and hopes to use the garden as an educational tool for children in Washington DC, teaching them how to plant, harvest, and cook their own food. Advocates of local food production, including the well-known Eat the View campaign, are hoping other Americans will follow suit!
