Champaign Unit 4 released updated COVID guidance for the new school year

Champaign Unit 4 Schools has updated guidance on their website, based on current CDC and IDPH recommendations. Here are some of the important things to know:

  • Masks will be required of all students and staff who are unvaccinated. Human Resources and campus leaders will collect vaccination information. Those who show proof of full vaccination will not be required to mask, except on buses.
  • Distancing will still be implemented whenever possible. When it’s not possible, they will be taking measures to reduce close contacts.
  • Vaccinated individuals will not be required to quarantine if they are close contacts (as long as they do not develop symptoms).
  • If staff or students develop symptoms at school, they will be tested (with consent) using the BinaxNOW rapid test. If there is an outbreak at a school, SHIELD testing will be used for screening.

The district is encouraging vaccination of all eligible students and staff as the best way to reduce the possibility of spread in the schools.

You can read the full list of protocols here.
