Word on the street (or at least in the Champaign Urbana History Facebook group) is that the Orpheum Theatre has been sold. It is no longer listed at Champaign County Realty, after going up on the site in September 2020.
Years ago, there was a fundraiser where kids and adults could paint a ceramic tile, and then a whole wall of the tiles was created. Before the building is transformed to whatever it’s going to be next, those who have a tile there have been invited to come by November 6th at 3 p.m. to get them. Even if you don’t have a tile, you can swing by to see the interior one more time.
