Smile Politely

The Overture: July 20-26

While we encourage you to check out what’s happening in live music this week, please use precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you are out and about, please wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands, and most importantly, respect the people around you, especially the employees that work at these establishments.

The Overture is a rundown of live music and performances happening in and around Champaign-Urbana each week. All of the information is as accurate as we can publish; however, all shows and performances are subject to change at any time. Thank you for understanding.

Did we miss something this week? Have a show coming up you think we should know about? Email us at music@smilepolitely.com with the details.

Yes, Sunshine Daydream is a cover band, performing Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia tunes throughout their set(s). We typically stick to original live music for the Overture, but if you’ve seen them perform, you know what I’m talking about. This would be a great one to check out this weekend at Rose Bowl’s outdoor stage.

Soul on Sunday has moved around a bit over the years, taking place at Iron Post or IMC at times, and they’ll hit the outdoor stage at Rose Bowl on Sunday. It’s usually comprised of live music and poetry, and other forms of art in front of a mic, so check out the Facebook event for more details about this.
