A new multi-purpose Champaign Park District facility, an endeavor that was announced about four and a half years ago, will be completed in June at the Human Kinetics Park site. Significant funding came from the Rainer and Julie S. Martens Foundation to build the nearly 40,000 square foot Martens Center. It will be a new home for the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club, and will also have a gym, indoor track, kitchen, fitness center, multipurpose rooms, and a media center.
The neighboring park will also have upgrades.
