Tumble Inn is celebrating a milestone birthday tomorrow, Thursday, March 17th, as the tavern turns 75 years old. The bar is situated just south of Downtown Champaign, where it has remained a staple as a sports-focused tavern for many, many years.
The News Gazette reports the bar opened on March 17th, 1947, its first birthday since longtime owner Toby Herges passed away late last year. You can read more about what they have planned for the celebration in the N-G, which takes place on a St. Patrick’s Day holiday that will likely look a little different in C-U this year compared to the last few with the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions having been lifted.
