Have you considered running for office in the City of Champaign? Now’s the time to get your act together. Petitions to run for Mayor and At-Large City Council seats will be available starting Tuesday, August 30th.
Details, including the submission dates for the City Clerk’s office, are in the press release below. The next municipal (primary) election is Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
City of Champaign Election Petitions Available August 30, 2022
CHAMPAIGN – Petitions for the Office of Mayor and At-Large City Council Members, and other campaign materials will be available for residents to pick up from the City Clerk’s Office (102 N. Neil St. Champaign) or to download from the City’s website at champaignil.gov/elections beginning Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
Completed petitions for nomination for the Office of Mayor and At-Large City Council Members must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office between and including the dates of November 21, 2022, through November 28, 2022. Please note the City Clerk’s Office will be closed November 24, 2022, and November 25, 2022, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
If necessary, a Consolidated Primary for these positions will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The Consolidated Election for these positions will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. There will be one person elected to the Office of Mayor, and one for each of the three At-Large City Council positions.
