After announcing the restaurant’s closure last December, Red Herring reopened in September for weekday lunch, and now the Urbana restaurant is expanding their offerings to include a light breakfast and to host LGBTQ+ Soup Nights. The new light breakfast starts at 9 a.m. with a small menu of pastries and coffee.
Red Herring’s weekday lunch is offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a new menu each day. This Thursday’s lunch is a falafel pita with chips, and on Friday, lunch will be a wrap with spicy buffalo chickpeas with a lime cilantro slaw plus ranch.

In addition to breakfast, Red Herring will be a venue for LGBTQ+ Soup Nights with the first event on Wednesday, November 13th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is for LGBTQ+ people, their partners, and children. The vegan soup is free, and if you plan to attend, sign up in advance, so organizers know how much soup to make. If you can’t make it this month, upcoming LGBTQ+ Soup Nights are December 18th and January 15th, same time.
Be sure to follow the restaurant on Facebook and Instagram to see each week’s menu announcement.
