Making it Plain: Articulating our Racist Present is the first panel discussion in the series Making it Plain: Reckoning with Anti-Asian Racism. The series is funded by the University of Illinois Chancellor’s Call to Action to Address Systemic Racism and Social Injustice Research Program and is hosted by the Unit for Criticism and Interpretive Theory and Asian American Studies.
Speakers include Roderick Ferguson (Yale), J. Kēhaulani Kauanui (Wesleyan, pictured above), Viet Thanh Nguyen (USC), Alfonso Gonzales Toribio (UC-Riverside), and the panel will be moderated by Susan Koshy and Junaid Rana of the University of Illinois.
Each speaker will offer a 10 minute reflection, then will engage with each other before opening discussion up to the audience. The discussion will take place over Zoom on February 4th at 3:30 p.m. You can register for the event here.
